Re: New 120 mg Canon
Blimey thats an awful lot of pixels on the same size sensor as your 5DIII, I suppose it will be of benefit to studio photographers and other specialised genres but as you say the computers and drives will struggle as for your 7 image HDR shots youd be filling a card up in hours rather than days....how did we survive with 10mpg bodies only a few years ago

Re: New 120 mg Canon
agree Gordon - I can't see this being used as a day to day camera, cards would need to be huge 512gb and if you went away and filled a few it would take longer to download than the holiday LOL... thats assuming as you say the HD would cope. As it is mine is a 4tb drive and its 60% full most of that being images. Had those been 120mg my system would have stopped ages ago
I'm guessing but maybe more towards astro photography, studio, close up:- Ian

Re: New 120 mg Canon
I agree Ian it will have its uses in a very small market I would imagine, astro and macro like you say being prime examples, whats the betting there be loads knocking it, but as far as I know but I could be wrong it will be the biggest full frame SLR to break the 100mpg and you cant knock the development and technology Canon have put into it

Re: New 120 mg Canon
yep, but this is going to be specialised camera, but I'm sure we will see people jumping onto the bandwagon saying about chasing silly meg cameras:- Ian

Re: New 120 mg Canon
Thats what I meant Ian its a given that they will, and most wont even own a Canon DSLR
As an aside for my money I'd still go with Canons though I know they have had their problems and people say the sensors are old hat but from what I read their gear is far less problamtic than Nikons who again from what I've read never recognise or address the issues that buyers have chosing just to ignore it

Re: New 120 mg Canon
That's far too big. You certainly would need some processing power to work with such huge files - new computer(s) as well?
A friend runs a computer museum in Cambridge. They has a room that has a sign over the door that says all the hardware in this room adds up to 640k. How things have moved on...........

agree its crazy how far its advanced, but in a way the software side is still lagging behind, we have the way to produce small devices but the software is still not that intelligentLast edited by Tigger; 27-05-2016, 13:21.:- Ian
