Just spent a week on the Island of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. 
I took my trusty old bridge camera that know every button of... would have took the EOS but didn't want to carry the weight, or have the worry about the camera.
Travelled with a group of friends and whilst there, took photos with their cameras and have to say, a viewfinder makes a difference... ever tried taking a picture using a LCD screen in bright sunshine.. its a case of shoot and hope for the best. Thing is, none of the cameras where what I would call cheap... but not a single viewfinder amongst them.
Have camera manufacturers gone off view finders.
