    Hi Hughie
Welcome to the forum. I have a couple of 100D bodies that I use when I don't want to carry a lot of weight. It's much better than many people think.
Wondering exactly which versions of the lenses you have. The 75 - 300 has had 7 different versions over the years, all are pretty old designs though and don't have the best reputation. Is the 18 - 55 the STM version, or one of the older ones?
    EOS 6D, 6D Mk II, 80D, 70D, 100D, 200D, M50, M100. Canon 10-18, 18 - 55, 55 - 250 IS STM lenses, Canon 16 - 35 mm F4L, 35 mm EF-S macro, 50 mm F1.8 STM, 60 mm EF-S macro, MPE-65 macro, 85 mm F1.8, 200 mm F2.8 L II, M 15 - 45 mm, M 22mm F2, M 32mm F1.4. Sigma 24 - 35 F2 Art, 135 mm F1.8 Art, 17 - 50 F2.8 DC, 105 mm OS macro, 100 - 400 C, 150 - 600 C.

      Hi Hughie and welcome

I've been considering a 100D (along with a M3) as a replacement 'travelling' camera for my old G10 so I'll be interested in seeing what it can do.

      Cheers,
      John

Thanks for the welcome think 75-300 is the EF 1:4-5.6 so think I cant expect too much from it the 18-55 is theEFs so has IS really having to re learn a few things so no feed back yet also complete package inc mem card less than £400

              Is that new or used?
The 75 - 300 varieties were introduced from 1991 to 1999, from 2004 onwards all were 70 to 300 and are reckoned to be considerably better. So any 75 - 300 is an older design.
There have also been 3 versions of the 18 - 55 mm IS, the latest (STM) is the best, especially in terms of build quality, the older ones were more flimsy.
I assume you know about the 1.6 factor with crop sensor cameras such as the 100d. 18 - 55 translates to 29 to 88 mm equivalent in 35 mm film terms, 75 to 300 to 120 to 480.
The main area where the 100d and other lower end models fall behind is on very fast focus e.g. for high speed action where the higher end cameras are considerably better. But they are great for most subjects, I use mine more than the 80D just because of the weight factor, I don't mind carrying it around all day whatever I'm doing, the 80D only gets used on those (presently rare) days when I can go out just to take photos.

Thanks Richard yes new price and no I didnt know about the 1.6 factor had a vivitar 70-210 series 1 on my Olympus and had noticed a large difference as for the old design suppose offering as a package is a way of shifting old stock unless they are still producing the old design ? Thanks for taking the trouble to pass information grateful for that atb Hughie
