I find that one track on my new CD is repeating like an broken record and doens't move forward. I wiped the surface clean and put it back on and still the same trouble. All the other tracks are fine and so are the other CD's in the album .I could have returned the whole set and got a replacement but I have already opened seals. Any idea how I could get over this problem?

Hi! Just thought I might mention that the CD plays fine on my other two CD players- one being in my car. Any reason why my Pioneer HI Fi CD player should cause the skipping in only one track?Canon 6D; Canon 760D;Canon G15;Canon 40mm f2.8(Pancake);Canon 50mm f1.8(ii); Canon 17mm-40mm f4L;Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM;Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 STM lens;Canon 24mm-105mmf4L IS;Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 L IS USM;Kenko 1.4x HD TC;Canon 430EX ii flash;Giottos tripod;Manfretto monopod;Cokin P filters + bits and pieces!

Re: Andre Rieu CD -Repetitive track like a broken gramaphone record.
Sometimes certain CD/DVD players can be sensitive to disc imperfections and a disc can play OK on one and not on another.
Couple of things to try, clean lens on problem player.
Also try copying the disc, as bizarre as it may seem I've seen where this overcomes the problem.Canon 5D3, 7D2, 60D, Canon 70-200L f2.8 IS II, Canon 300 f4L IS, Canon 16-35 f4 L, Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, Canon 1.4 MkIII extender, Sigma AF 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM, Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD, Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS

Re: Andre Rieu CD -Repetitive track like a broken gramaphone record.
During writing some error correction occurs and 'may' prevent the skip fault on new copy.Canon 5D3, 7D2, 60D, Canon 70-200L f2.8 IS II, Canon 300 f4L IS, Canon 16-35 f4 L, Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, Canon 1.4 MkIII extender, Sigma AF 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM, Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD, Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS

My understanding is that a CD player 'oversamples' the disc i.e. reads the same portion 'n' times prior to writing to the buffer (from where the track is actually played), so newer devices will be reading a problem area of the CD more times than the Pioneer, thus having more chances of obtaining a good read/write to the buffer in the latter oversampling attempts!
Hope that makes sense.
Agree with above posts - try cleaning the sensor etc. on the Pioneer too.
Good luck

Re: Andre Rieu CD -Repetitive track like a broken gramaphone record.
Thanks Mike. It's slowly dawning on me. Yes, my Pioneer set (which I like) is an older machine compared to the newer ones and hence the newer machines had no trouble reading the CD. Also from what you have said I might have to "upgrade" my good hi fi units to keep pace with the newer discs.Canon 6D; Canon 760D;Canon G15;Canon 40mm f2.8(Pancake);Canon 50mm f1.8(ii); Canon 17mm-40mm f4L;Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM;Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 STM lens;Canon 24mm-105mmf4L IS;Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 L IS USM;Kenko 1.4x HD TC;Canon 430EX ii flash;Giottos tripod;Manfretto monopod;Cokin P filters + bits and pieces!

Re: Andre Rieu CD -Repetitive track like a broken gramaphone record.
Sometimes polishing the CD with Mr Sheene or similar helps. Use a very clean soft cloth and check the polish on a less precious CD first as some polishes attack some discs.Cheers

The CDs are not something new, technology wise.
The same applies to DVDs. some DVD players will play a film whilst others will not.
Your CD player might be old and may need replacing but a good clean internally might resolve the issue.
I am anyway surprised at your tip about copying a disc- something new to me.
I will bring a copy disc with me when I visit in 8 days time.Canon EOS R6 Mark II, Canon RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1L, Canon RF 24-105mm f4L

Re: Andre Rieu CD -Repetitive track like a broken gramaphone record.
Thanks Oggie. Will try most things once. Unfortunately all the CD's I have now are all "precious" to me- my kind of music and they all in,general, prestine condition. I bought the Andre Rieu album very recently- two discs. Not clear what you mean Stephen. I also have several blank discs but these may not be suitable for the purpose you have in mind. So please bring your copy disc. The weathe forecast looks good for your North Wales visit. Thanks all the same for the help and advice received from the members to date.Canon 6D; Canon 760D;Canon G15;Canon 40mm f2.8(Pancake);Canon 50mm f1.8(ii); Canon 17mm-40mm f4L;Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM;Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 STM lens;Canon 24mm-105mmf4L IS;Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 L IS USM;Kenko 1.4x HD TC;Canon 430EX ii flash;Giottos tripod;Manfretto monopod;Cokin P filters + bits and pieces!
