    Spiritualized Imagination

I must have be completely insane going to the Abbey to take these shots.

    I don't know why I didn't click on...

I never thought about it when the rain was running like a water fall down the steps of the open top bus that takes you up there. Or even when bus driver, smiled happily and called me crazy...or when I thought the window was steamed up, and on rubbing it with my hand, realised that it was the mist and fog outside. For that matter it didn't click either when the woman who took my money to enter the Abbey grounds advised about bad winds and advised going too near a wall with a drop.

Driving rain that got me so soaked that my fingers got too cold to work out how to put on my all weather cover over my lowepro bag, fingers that is, that where enclosed in gloves that go so wet, the bled their dye and I had red fingers for two days. All I can say is that I'm grateful that I took some advice that was on here some time ago about carrying a plastic sack inside your case so that you have something to lie/kneel on. I dropped the lowepro inside it, tied the top with a knot and a presto - instant all weather case. Not perfect (it had air holes) but the case didn't get soaked. and you know, it still didn't click on that I was a little bit mad.

Weirdest thing was. I wasn't the only crazy one. Others where walking around, who for some reason decided to get in the way of the best views all the time. With bright yellow, pink, green and red rain coats. The person who invented the clone tool needs a medal as big as a dustbin lid.

I was acutely aware of the rain, wind and the fact that I had others waiting for me... nice and warm in the tea shop. So I didn't spend as long there as I would have wished so I know that I've missed some shots that are probably obvious to many that have been there. I'll have to see if I can get another trip in the summer for better weather. Problem is, better weather will probably mean more people walking around getting in the way...

Anyway... enough waffle.. photos coming up.

Please feel free to comment, what works, what doesn't what would make it better, what to look for the next time I go back.

and I rather like this one, even though I know its not perfect with the blown light at the windows - I've tried post processing to take away the "glow" but my PP skills are lacking. Mind you, a friend as seen it and thinks its great. Isn't it amazing how we all see different things.

Well worth the effort to get these shots . I particularly like the abstract strength of the geometry in the third image.

Thanks very much. I confess I checked that one while sheltering from the pouring standing under cover of the little bit of roof that is left. Mind you, the rain bet me too it. It came sideways through the gaps between the arches.

Thanks everyone who stopped by and left a comment. Made getting soaking wet worth it.

Peter - Didn't walk up as I was with others who wouldn't have made it. Did go down them though in yet another down pour. Photos in landscapes.
