Super viewpoint and mono conversion. We looked to do something like that from the outside but a sunny day and loads of reflections put paid to that - is yours from inside ?

Excellent John, well processed too. But like Ian, those rails need to go

                Re: Cutty Sark

                Thanks folks

I did think hard about those rails but the subtlety of tones behind them would have made cloning them out probably beyond me so I persuaded myself they added a dynamic quality to the image and left them .

Stan, quite correct the reflections were a problem and it was sunny when I was there too but my shot was actually taken from outside through the glass. The resulting image had a massive reflection issue but I dealt with it in a manner I think many here would approve of. Any guesses what I did?

                Cheers,
                John

Not sure how you overcame them but whatever you did, you did it very well. Spill the beans when others have had a chance to try and suss

Hes copied and flipped it.... if you look on the left hand side the Cutty Sark name plate is the wrong way round thats the giveaway, still a nice image though

                      Re: Cutty Sark

Very good Gord, I did crop and flip it

Here's what I had to work with (already flipped at this stage):

                      IMG_3965-2.jpg

It did pain me to get rid of the red-headed lady because, to coin a well worn phrase, "that's no lady, that's my wife"

I hadn't even spotted the reversed name but what would have given it away to me was that the yardarms aren't straight.

Incidentally, despite my enthusiasm for Silver Efex the mono conversion was done by simply selecting Black & White in LR!

                      Cheers,
                      John

Excellent. Would not have thought that as when we were there there were awful reflections accross the whole frame so copy and flip would not have helped

in modern parlance that is one bangin' image - and probably all the more so for being mono and totally symmetrical...
