    Madeira Sunrise and a splash!

Two images the first one taken from the balcony, of a sunrise with the "Illas Desertas" (roughly translates as the deserted Islands) on the horizon. You should also be able to spot one of the buildings in image #1 in the splashy image #2.

    #1 Sunrise from the balcony

    #1 Exif: 5D3, 24-105L, ISO100, f16, @ 82mm FL, 1/5 sec camera resting on balcony handrail

#2 Splash with "Ilha DeLido" for added mid ground interest shame it (the Island) crosses the horizon

Exif #2 ISO100, @24mm FL, f16, 1/30 sec hand held with me leaning against a wall for support

Both strong compositions, but I think the first has lost something in the processing, you have a white halo around the tree/sea line which is distracting.

Second image is a lot cleaner, slightly different POV, but with impact.

I have looked back at my processing of the first image and it looks to me as though the white halo as identified by Les (Thanks again Les) was caused by the way I sharpened the image using "Smart Sharpen" in Photoshop. For some reason I had the amount% set very high.
Here is the reworked image without as much sharpening applied, WDYT?

                        Hi Paul
I deliberately didn't take any filters with me on our trip, so I was having a play with the HDR in camera during the time out there. However looking at the images taken at the same time as this one the image wasn't HDR. It was one of a three set bracketed group.
