    Church

Not the normal church photo we see from Nat ;o) ...

I walked into the local church just as the sun was making a shadow of the cross against the wall - it was only after I took it the local priest came up and told me ( he spoke very good english) the head that you can see in the middle is supposed to be the devil ... think it makes it a tad more interesting ;o)

                  Nicely seen, and taken...

...but that's the weirdest stained glass window I've seen. It looks like a clam on fire, with a walking stick! What is THAT meant to be?

The scallop shell represents Baptism (used to dip the Holy Water from the font) and also Pilgrimage (Pilgrims used scallop shells as a drinking vessel as they journeyed). The walking stick (or staff) also represents pilgrimage and is particularly associated with St. James (the Great) who's reputed shrine (and site of pilgrimage) is Santiago di Compostela, Galicia, Spain. The red flame represents the Holy Spirit guiding the pilgrim on their way.

One very simple image, 2,000 years of history, and a multitude of stories and experiences. What we'd give to capture that in our photographs.
