I took my Tokina 11-16 2.8 for an early morning trip to Torquay's Rock Walk today to try to capture the sun rising over one of the seven hills and, hopefully, lighting the beach and Torre Abbey. It was not the success I hoped for as the sun was visible for only a short time before disappearing behind cloud and some images I took to stitch into a panorama were so distorted by the 11mm lens that they wouldn't match - will try again though.
This was my first time on the Rock Walk since the cliff had to be stabilised after it started to fall down! The once labyrinthine network of paths that nestled in among neatly tended vegetation and all floodlit at night were swept away and are now little more than a memory (although tantalising glimpses of old paths and steps are visible among the severely strimmed weeds). The new paths are easier to walk on but difficult to use as an aid leading the eye into a photograph as they change direction so often. Will have to return and consider better composition.
