Re: Birch Tree on the edge of Loch Torridon

The composition is studied and very nice: the tree is the protagonist in the foreground and the mountains in the background complete the picture very well.
The light is soft and creates a nice atmosphere for me !

James as usual it's right up there with your other postings. Given its almost mono why not go all out and fully convert it?

No I am not sure about it either. That menacing sky, the hint of possible relief in the distance, the wind swept foreground and softness in the tree because of the movement and choppy black waters in the loch; no I think if I had taken it I wouldn't share it ~ but mainly because if I had taken it all of those qualities would have been missing!! Another lovely atmospheric image James

Well done James. Sometimes poor weather looks great, as in this case. How are you finding the EF16-35mm f/4L?

Re: Birch Tree on the edge of Loch Torridon

Thanks Andy. The 16-35 f4 is pin sharp wide open, great DOF when closed down a bit, IS allows shooting without a tripod a ridiculous slow speeds - can't compliment it enough.
A bit too slow for use at night ( wide field astro stuff) so will hire a 15mm Zeiss or might even invest in the f2.8 Samyang for that particular use.

Not really had much chance to do too much with my 16-35. However, bit of sun today so took a stroll round local reservoir
