    London Docklands

    Hi all,

I had a go at some long exposure for the first time and you can see the results in pic 3. Found one issue that the reflections come more into play after the picture was taken so missed the ends of them. Open to ideas in picture 2 as wanted to get some movement from the train but was not sure if that was too much blur? But in the whole was a good learning experience.

nice work I like them all

re the 2nd - the train moving works well as it offers movement into the shot, but the verticals need sorting and its a shame you clipped the top of the building - if I know I'm going to have to do a lot of work on the verticals I always go much wider

      Good set.
Like the perspective in #1 and good use of the train in#2 and finally I like the long exposure effect on the water in #3.

#1 stunning to me but the other 2 flat in comparison. I'm just drawn to 1

              Thanks for the feedback

I had to use my kit lens for this on as it had the right focal length, I could of used my wide angle but sometimes the distortion is worse. I used the lens correction tool in photoshop and this was the best I could do but see below with the original

Would you recommend using a wider lens and cropping in more next time as I was trying not to get the train to low?

Good set Ben. I have shot from exactly the same spot as you before. I also tried the moving train shot, you nailed it better than I did for sure. Of the 3 the first would be my pick and as suggested try it in mono. I'd say the 3rd is a little under exposed, easy done when using an ND filter

yes I would have gone wider and cropped for the composition you want, least that way you wouldn't have clipped the building - but its still a nice shot

Nice set Ben. I am drawn to number 1 and as Stan said it would be interesting to see it in black and white.

I think the first shot is the most memorable of a fine set...... and although it might be interesting to see it in mono I love the steel & the blue/greys.
Canon EOS R5, R6 plus the usual suspects ......
