    yep another castle

not as impressive a castle as many others but i did like it ... tried to use the trees to frame the shot. Also put a slight gaussian blur onto the editing

That's a very well composed scene and a lot of merit in the final shot.

There is some apparent evidence of post editing around the castle turrets, but that aside I like the general composition, the balance between the two manmade elements, the way the shot is held in by the foliage and the lighting and colour balance. All in all, one to be proud of.

      lovely shot Ian

There is some apparent evidence of post editing around the castle turrets
      due to HDR perhaps

cheers guys - I wasn't too concerned about the castle turrets as the bottom part of the sky was a lot lighter so it seemed to blend in OK

A very effective composition and bold processing makes this outstanding!

many thanks Tom & Brian ...

as for my processing Brian I've never been one to post it straight from the camera and prefer to put my mark on the image ...sometimes wrong, or right LOL

Nicely done Ian. I'd be interested to know how you used a Gaussian blur in the PP? I tend to use it to blur background sometimes to make a main subject more prominent.

                    Thats no bad thing.
I like it, the processing may not be the way everyone would do it but thats the beauty of photography, we can all look at an image differently.

Yeah I agree....its the final image that matters and its your own choice how you achieved it. Although, I'm starting to experiment with just shooting jpegs and even using the filter effects within the 100D....and I quite like the immediacy of the finished in camera image in contrast to my usual post processing.
