    Kent Beach Hut

We have a more down to earth style than those prissy Dorset boys

Brian - so what was it ... some form of lookout tower? Camel Corp HQ (well Kent has a desert )?

Lol - the fence looks like its worth more than the huts... that said, it does look like a nice location for some black and white arty shots.

It is a fisherman's hut where they keep their nets etc

Ah thanks ... nice setting ... Romney? (that's the only part of Kent I know ... no prizes for why).

You are right about the monochrome opportunities. This is Dungeness which is one of the more popular tog day outs - a good pub - The Brittania - in the middle.

I plan to do another day there - there are opportunites which are not often visited (too far from the car park) and also a 12th century church nearby.

                Just a taster:

Nice tones on that boat Brian.

Yes we never use to have IS ... had to develop a technique for hand holding with breathing control etc. Becoming a lost art I guess.

Kent is a place I never seem to get to these days.

                    Re: Kent Beach Hut

I learnt the technique of holding the camera from rifle shooting - using the left hand as a tripod and the chest as the ground - left elbow across the middle of the chest making the forearm vertical. Works well for panning as well.

That sounds like a good tip!

As for the hut, I wondered about the fence. The nets inside explain it. I could hardly believe that the 'residence' was that desirable that the hordes had to be kept away. Arsonists perhaps; while it makes a smashing photo subject, it is a bit of a blot on the landscape.

                      The photos are great Brian.

Last time I was down there..there was a smokery if its still there he likes to have his photos taken and you have to try the smoked mackral.
Lots of things to shoot including the small gauge railway .

There will be times when you will be in the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. Don't be bitter because you can't record it. Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!

Interesting images the place has character, really like the B/W boat shot, I find with digital & all the modern gizmo's i.e. IS has perhaps made us a little lazy in technique, and a bit more hurried than we used to be with film.
