Easter Sunday Sunrise (a bit further south)

I was up just after 6 this morning for these (but did go back to bed afterwards - there is a limit to the suffering I'll do for my art )

Colourful and dramatic John. Both good, but I prefer the second.

        Lovely shots, especially the second.

Only took it 4 hours ago..............back home...................kip........................ ..coffee and process the images..................Blimey you've been busy !

What exactly causes the ring ? sun reflecting on the glass- then what ? Can't work this out !

Two great shots John and well worth the effort of getting out of bed. I was up at the same time and watched it as it came up over the trees up my end.

John, I could only have dreamed of a morning like yours, cracking shots, could have sent some further North.

Thanks for getting up early to take these images for us John. Both very nice, I’ll call back later when I’ve looked at them on a bigger screen

                        Thanks folks

Bo, the ring must be lens flare (EF 24-105L) and only seems to occur when the sun is dead centre (it isn't apparent in the other image which, prior to cropping, had the sun slightly off centre). Generally flare is something to be avoided but in this case and another I'll post below, think it adds to the drama. Of course, YMMV

Another example of circular lens flare:
