    Effects of rain on Image Quality

    Just thought I would show these pictures as they demonstrate the effect of rain on a picture. Rain mostly affects pictures with small focal lengths or over a distance.

    Here are two examples from the weekend where I was covering a charity cross country event when it started to rain (lightly). For these events you have to get usually 2 pictures for each participant, one head on showing the number and one 'portrait' style where the number may not show (but you refer to the first as reference)

    The zoomed out picture where the IQ of the background looks like it is speckled



    And zoomed in where the rain is more obvious

      #2 illustrates how far a rain drop moves in 1/500 sec. I don't mind the speckled effect as it show whats happening ... in this case the people running in the wet.

          10 miles in high humidity with a 20kg pack tends to make people sweat

            Hardraw Force. Longest single drop waterfall in the UK I believe.

            Not rain but does affect the IQ ...Very wet!
