    Honey Bee

Its been some time since I posted anything, mainly because I haven't really taken any shots, due to having had quite a 'rough ride'. following major surgery 3 months ago. Albeit, feeling much better now, and although not yet 'out of the woods', things are definitely 'on the up'.

Had a wander around the garden with the camera and macro lens this afternoon, and grabbed this shot of a Bee. One of many busy on this particular plant.

The 'catch light' in his eye, is actually the reflection of the late afternoon sun.

    5D3 + Sigma 105EX f/2.8. 1/500th at f/11, and ISO 1250.

        Thanks Ian.

Yep, definitely 'on the mend' now, thank goodness.

It wasn't so much the opp, albeit that was bad enough , but the wound became infected, and even now 3 months on, I stiil have a nurse come in every day, to 'pack' and dress the wound. Albeit, its nearly sorted now. .

I had the same with the wound from when my appendix burst. It got infected so when they took the staples out about 1 inch opened up and I had to have it packed like yourself

Agree with Paul. I've resisted macro but don't really know why

Not much fun is it Paul, and its a long slow process. Apparently 'packed wounds' take longer to heal, but its important that the healing is from the inside to out.

Great shot Dave, superb detail & DOF. I'm glad to hear that you're recovering from your recent traumas.

One thing though. It's not a honey bee. It's a bumble, possibly a buff-tailed bumble-bee but without a clear shot of its rear end I can't be sure.

Thanks Russell, and thanks for the ID on the Bee. I did wonder if it was a Bumble, but I didn't think it was big enough, having seen them bigger than this.
