Down on the farm

On a plant in our back garden I found this Aphid farm with the ants tending it



They are doing a good job of herding the aphids




And the aphids are breeding


All with the 50D, 100mm f2.8 IS L macro, all 3 Kenko tubes, Marumi ringflash and unfortunately hand held as it was not possible to get the gear near enough if I had use a tripod and SWMBO wouldn't let me bring that lot indoors

Mike I am not sure if it is giving birth buty that is my interpretation of what I was seeing, Brian, Joanne and Mike thanks for the nice comments.

I want to have another go but with an off camera flash and if I can somehow get a tripod in place I wanted to try some image stacking

Well 'explored' a great series showing insect behavior, (IMO) far more interesting than just another super close mug shot of a bug. Looks like the 100mm macro holds up very well with all the tubes.
