In the current issue of Digital SLR Photography is the work of extreme macro tog Thomas Shahan who gets the most detailed shots of insects using an old 50mm lens reversed and extension tubes.....so I bought a reversing ring for my nifty fifty and thought i would give it a go.........not with insects though, start with something static like the edge of a pound coin. So with camera on tripod and a manfroto focus rail i put the coin on the edge of the table........not easy at all as the dof is almost non existant. So first shot is the 50 reversed on its own

then I added 21 and 31 mm extension tubes

Both shots are uncropped and more or less straight out of camera with a little usm
I think a lot more practice is required before attempting and insects![Smile](https://www.eos-magazine-forum.com/core/images/smilies/smile.png)
