Marvellous feather detail on the Kookaburra.

They are related to our Kingfishers, but much, much larger.

as Colin says you got some good detail but the background does rather spoil the shot. Is this one of the kookaburras at Marwell ? - if so next time its worth spending a bit of time watching as very often they will move around as there are a few spots where the fencing wont intrude.

Yes it was in Marwell but the bird was in a large walkthrough cage, so i had no way of getting a nice background for him the only problem was when you have allots of people around with their children all want to take a picture at the sametime you can only imagine what is was like i waited as much as i could for this picture.

I also had the same problem with the squirrel picture people and their dogs.

          But thanks for the comments

I have had an annual pass for the last 4 years so know it well and going in presumably half term with all the kids just adds to the problems - unless you are actually taking the kids, its a time to avoid. As I said with a bit of luck and patience (and no kids) it is possible to get a better shot - this is one i took there three years ago
