I was in Africa in a tented camp of 11 tents. It was open to the environment and patrolled by Masai at night, who chased off any wandering animals. Most animals didn't worry them at all, including Lions and they were significantly braver than me, because their only armament was a stick!
The only thing that rattled the Masai were Buffalo and when I asked why was told: "because they are very bad tempered, very stupid and very poor eyesight and can only see a few feet in front of them."
The bovine version of "Grumpy old men!"
