    Re: Greenfinch

Nice capture and good catchlight - good to see a healthy greenfinch as numbers have been drastically reduced by the spread of the disease trichomonosis - everyone should make sure their feeders are regularly cleaned

      Nicely captured Stan, as always.
We have 2 greenfinches that visit our garden every year and lots of goldfinches.

"trichomonosis" that is a word we don't use everyday and not to be confused with trichomoniasis which is something completely different.
More info and advice on trichomonosis is available from the RSPB site HERE

despite feeders etc, nothing visits our garden - must be something to do with the cat

pretty little bird nicely shot Stan. They should be showing in profusion of Hengistbury Head soon, we heard a few of them doing their "Wheezy" call up there last week
My camera is helping to look at the world more closely, then record what I see to share with others.

Bird feeders here remaining empty of birds. Could be something to do with hawks. On my walk the other day I swore I saw more than one flying around.

Most likely to be sparrowhawk Di - put feeders out, attract the little birds and you've created a help yourself buffet for the sprawk - natural though and take only a miniscule amount compared to the domestic cat which doesn't need the food

                      Nice image stan.

We get lots of these and other little birds, and yes sparrowhawks if they fancy a snack (a real meal is a dove, and all they leave is ring of feathers on the lawn). We are quite lucky by the number of creatures we see in the garden.

Really lovely picture again Stan. Wonder what focal length you were using?
