with a 17-85 he must have been close and from the robins expression in the second shot, I dont think he can believe it either

Nice and sharp at 1/40 too

Thanks Stan he allowed me to get about 2 metres away from him I could probably have got a bit closer but didn't want to scare him off

Robins are about the most confiding of small birds but a couple of metres is very close

Cracking shots Paul. You must have a really good copy of that lens. I gave up on mine ages ago.

            Thanks Paul.

I'm pretty pleased with the lens it seems to be giving good IQ.

Mostly with wildlife photography, luck is not on your side, but sometimes ............... the lady smiles in your direction.

Despite the wrong lens and wrong light, she threw you an opportunity that I am pleased to say you grabbed with both hands. Two delightful photo's of a sharp well placed Robin, against a nicely out of focus background.

                    Re: Robin

I had a liaison with a Robin at the Barnes WWT back in April. I was using a 70-200 F4 L on a 600D and at 70mm had no trouble filling the frame - the saucy little sod was no more than six inches from my hand at some points.
EOS 7D mk II, Sigma 150-660C, Canon 17-85 EF-S, Tamron 10-24 and a wife who shares my obsession.
