Yet again Stan not a bird I have seen outside of a book, very nice to see it here

I think I can see something odd on it's beak top a halo/remnant of a clone maybe?

But...I couldn't see Wayne's shark in Tom's Diner image so maybe I need to go for an eye test

No cloning at all on this shot but I had to check the original raw file and the line above the beak/head is part of the original shot, possibly the light catching the lighter feathers which have then been accentuated in PP and further so in linking from flickr

I'm glad that there is something light there Stan, I wasn't suggesting sloppy PP especially not from you.

I personally find it difficult sometimes to determine if my post processing is actually improving an image or detracting from it. But I suppose that's all part of the learning curve and I have a lot to learn 😳

You are not alone and often others will see aspects you have missed - so all feedback is good. Having completed pp on the large image, all my shots are then resized to 900 px on the longest side both for uploading to one particular forum that requires that size and also to place on albums on my tablet. Also when uploading to flickr I only ever use the 900 px size and then link to 800px on this and most other forums and that is where the problem sometimes lay as flickr seems to do some pp of its own sometimes resulting in making a shot look over sharpened and introducing halos

I think very carefully before going beyond a cocktail of noise reduction, sharpening, levels adjustment and cropping. Operations like adjusting highlights leads to contrast and hue/saturation adjustments and to me that's the slippery end of the slope to dodging, burning and clone stamping

But seriously, I do agree. It's hard to see when the adjustments improve the image or just make it different. A very difficult judgement call.
