    Cormorant sunning

    Sunning itself on top of a post in the Thames in London - shot against the sky for a silhouette -



    Thought to be a way of drying the feathers but also another interesting theory that they are absorbing warmth from the sun through their black colouring to warm the abdomen which speeds the digestion of a cold fish - that process seems to go faster in such sunning birds.

    7D + 70-300 DO IS.
