Re: Birds of Prey - Wisley
Hi Alan, thanks for looking. I agree about the backgrounds (see my challenge in the next post). At a well attended public display in a circular arena I simply couldn't find an uncluttered bg. It kept throwing the focussing off too! Any suggestions welcomeLast edited by Columbarius; 06-04-2014, 14:18.Russell

Re: Birds of Prey - Wisley
Hi Alan, certainly all the pocket camera flashes were firing so I don't suppose they'd object. Certainly worth an experiment next time.Russell

Re: Birds of Prey - Wisley
In situations like that, I get down low on my belly and with the lens pointing up at the bird, your background is normally sky. You will need to adjust your exposure to expose for the bird and not the sky, but much better than having gawdy coloured coats in the background.Colin

Re: Birds of Prey - Wisley
I take the point Colin, but on this occasion:
1) I'd have been trampled
2) It was wet & muddy & I had no groundsheet
3) I'd never have got up again
4) My wife would have abandoned me!
Seems like a good plan thenRussell

Re: Birds of Prey - Wisley
I like all 4 images Russell
Sometimes you can not do anything about the background, unless you photoshop afterwards.
I would be very pleased with all the images, sharp and good colours.Canon EOS R6 Mark II, Canon RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1L, Canon RF 24-105mm f4L
Please note: I do not have or use Photoshop

Re: Birds of Prey - Wisley
Thanks Bill & Tom. Agree it's a shame about the feet, I chose that shot because of the head position.
Tom, I wouldn't have wanted to get close to him in that mood!Russell
