    Mrs Mallard

Another shot taken with the Tamron
Seems to work better at f8 in decent light
Still very much in the experimental stage.

    70D + Tamron 150-600, 1/640 @ f8, ISO 400

      Re: Mrs Mallard

This appeared oversharpened when posted to Flickr - so much more than the original.
I reduced the sharpening in Aviary.
Seems to have done the trick - or has it?

ahh the obligatory 'duck shot with a new lens' - honestly, look around at all the photo's you take with a new lens and somewhere near the start of them will be a photo of a duck. . . . I have dozens lol.

Very nice capture and I like the position in the frame, background may have suffered a little with the sharpening but to be honest, I pay more attention to the main subject.

                Cheers Guys

                So true David
We have the river nearby so what better place to try out the lens
On the rare days that I don't take the cameras I see loads of species
The day I do take them all I see are ducks, Herons and Dippers

                  Re: Mrs Mallard

Nice shot Mike. According to the exif on Flickr it was shot at just over 300mm so I'd be interested to know how it goes at closer to 600mm and how is the AF at f6.3?

Now if Tamron would do the decent thing and get rid of the zoom and knock out either a 500mm or 600mm at f5.6 in the same price range, I'd have my credit card out like a shot...

Thanks Mike. There's a decent amount of detail there isn't there.
