    Grey Heron with Prey

Not nice to see but I suppose the Heron has to feed.
I'm sure its not the first Mallard Duckling its taken and sadly it certainly won't be the last.
It went off with another just as we were leaving.
I thought it was a wee bit late for Mallard Ducklings but in the past I've spotted them from March to September

          Re: Grey Heron with Prey

Always hard to see the harder side of nature. I know the kestrels that I photographed earlier this year were very agitated when the local heron flew over.

Local mallards also have newly hatched duckings (seems a bit late), a Doberman owner was beside herself as the dog gobble up a couple before she realised what was happening.

I find this image disturbing - it conjures up all sort of disconcerting emotions within me. This is what a good photography can & should do - remind us of the reality of this world. Excellent work.
