    Slimbridge green lapwing

    Having seen a few lapwings in the distance, we saw this one in the last hide of the day. The problem I have with these birds is that the body stands out nicely but the head is well camouflaged so it never seems to appear distinct from the background. Unless you can get one of them to perch on a fence or something unusual Usual combo of 7D and 400L.

      With lapwings the main thing is to get the light pon the plumage to bring out the irredescent colours - which you have done on this one. However on my monitor the image is showing a slight magenta caste which is easy to sort in PS

        Yes I see what you mean about the head Andy. But still a great shot. I haven't seen a green lapwing before.

          it is just an ordinary lapwing Terry which has alternative names of green plover and peewit

            Now that I've fixed it, it looks like it was quite a quite a strong magenta cast.
