    Black Kites

    And a small owl.

From the Hawk Conservancy Trust on Friday. Some of these came close to doing the birds justice. When my 7D mk ii arrives, this will definitely be a two camera visit. As well as the captive bird we had buzzards, kestrels and a wild red kite. With a 70-200 working best for the captives, I could have done with another body with a 400 on it for the wild birds. All-in-all my best weather day there, and only one twatting from a vulture to show for it...

A couple of kites showing off...

And what I think is a long-eared owl, a very young one, that was very hacked off at being moved from it's nice quiet enclosure...

    Re: Black Kites

Hmm, colouring looks a bit wrong for long eared owl. My guess this isn't a British species and I'd think Scops owl.

Thanks for looking Bill and Tom.

Ant, comparing to other shots, I think you're right it is a Scops Owl.

Nice set Andy. Agree with Alan about the shadows in #2. I may also lighten the shadows in #1 as well. Agree with antoeknee it could be an African Scops Owl

Thanks for looking Brian and Paul.

I reprocessed both kite shots pushing the shadows as far as I felt I could without blowing the quality. The first one comes up the best as you'd expect, the second not so much...
