This wagtail is a regular visitor and he always scrabbles arounf for insects in that particular spot which is also quite shaded so yes a wider aperture would have thrown the background out a bit more and also enabled a more reasonable shutter speed....but I was set up waiting for the kingfishers and didnt want to change any settings in case the KF suddenly appeared
