    Wildfowl Selection - 7D II

    The more i process shots from the new camera the more i am bowled over by the quality and detail captured in jpeg out of camera with little post processing. A selection of wildfowl from Friday and Saturday

        its a thought but i will reserve judgement until i can process the raws to compare. However if shots are under or overexposed then the only way to possibly recover the detail is with a raw file - no hope with a jpeg

          Excellent Stan! I too am very impressed with the jpeg results I am getting. I always felt that the 7D didn't get the best out of the EF400mm f5.6L which is why I mainly used it manually with my Olympus E-M1 and achieved excellent results. The Mk2 however has changed the whole picture (pun intended) and I no longer feel there would be any advantage in using the E-M1. I'm off to Northumbria on Thursday for a few days birding and I'm looking forward to getting a few good images of distant sea ducks etc., previously I only had confidence in the Olympus for these shots.

                Excellent shots Stan & nice to hear that after a fairly big outlay in cash you are so pleased with your new camera. Would it be too much trouble to see some unprocessed shots taken at high ISO ( up to 6000 say) ?

                    most of the high ISO were really test shots on Thursday and havent needed to go above 1600 ( red squirrels) since. The shots originaly posted on the thread 7D II - first shots are the high ISO ones and the fungi @ ISO 16000 (full frame) and the chaffinch (cropped a little) @ ISO 6400 are the nearest to unprocessed shots

                        Hi Stan;

                        Thanks for putting up these 'real world' examples... The 7DII is looking good. I'm just a little mad with myself now for jumping the gun and trading my (very poor example) of a 7D for the 70D... but, in all fairness I have been happy with the 70D, so I'll bide my time before upgrading again...
                        Cheers;
                        Lee
