Female Tufted Duck

Taken at Barnes WWT on Saturday from the Headley Discovery hide. It was mid afternoon and the light was stunning, which is why I've left quite a bit of background. It's the reflection of the reeds. I would have preferred the bird to be towards the top of the frame, but the golden reflection disappeared just below the bottom edge.

1DX with 500mm f4 L IS + 1.4 converter.

There was some nice light on and off during the morning as well to give that "golden pond" effect and the colours of the female tufty compliment it very well

BTW - good to meet you as we were all leaving on Saturday and i fif get the parakeet in flight to match Dee
