    Aussie Birds

No, not bikini clad 'beach babes', sorry.

At the request of Nat, I have dug out some old (2007/8) Australian birds picture, from one of my 'walk-abouts' in Western Australia.

Not serious photos, just 'see and grab' shots, so ignore the finer points like composition etc.

The Crow, joined us for lunch in Kings Park, Perth.

    All taken with a 30D and a Sigma EX 18-55 f/2.8.

Excellent! Shame the Rainbow Lorikeet is a bit camera shy though!

              I'm not surprised, I thought a Dunnock was a Sparrow , but I'm learning

He's probably thinking "streuth, the daft 'Pom' thinks I'm a Crow".

                Re: Aussie Birds

Just found another, showing the sort of birds that will perch on your TV aerial.

These are Ring Necked Parrots, affectionately known as 28's because of their distinctive call.

Taken with the 55mm lens from a distance, so they are quite small in the full image, so this one is very heavily cropped.

Again, taken with the 30D and the Sigma 18-55.

                  Re: Aussie Birds

Not a bird, but it does (did ) fly, but don't ask me what it is, although I suspect it might be some sort of Locust.

I put a 50 pence piece alongside it to give it some perspective.

A fair sized bug, I reckon!!

I didn't want to put this one on Flickr, so I've uploaded it direct, which has unfortunately softened it somewhat.

It was taken at my daughter's house, just outside of Perth.
