A pair of courting red kites

I've occasionally seen individual kites up in the tree tops, but never a courting pair, to say I'm thrilled to bits is an understatement.
A difficult shot as there was only a small window through all the branches/twigs etc, and I had to spend a long time cloning out the blurry/out of focus branches around the kites.

It's not often I wish I had something with a touch more reach than 300mm +1.4TC, but this was one occasion, it's quite a significant crop.

That is a wonderful capture Les. If you had asked them to pose for you, it couldnt have been more perfect

Super shot Les and well worth tidying the background to concentrate on the birds

Very nice shot. Crop or not looks to be plenty of detail.

                    PP well worth the effort.

Re: A pair of courting red kites

Thanks all, it was one of those times when all the planets were aligned, and everything just came together, which only happens once in a blue moon for most of us. I had my subject, I had a view (just), I had the right gear with me, and most importantly, the light was perfect, late afternoon sun from behind my shoulder.
So I was able to push the aperture to make sure both birds were in focus, left the ISO at 400 knowing the image would be clean, and let the shutter speed take care of itself, knowing it would be fast enough to hand hold.
I know I go on about it but for me the 7D2 is one awesome camera, I'd pushed the crop quite far, but it took it in it's stride...no bother.
