I like the first 2 Nat but the background in the 3rd seems a bit odd

Thanks Ian and James. I tried to blur the background (via aperture) in #3 so that the Robin stood out. Feel free to comment as to what I may have done "wrong" here!

Perhaps a little overdone Nat - subtle is the name of the game

I don't think the quality of the image will handle that crop Nat - I prefer the before, just needs a bit of TLC and sorting the background out

Re: Correction- one feathererd friend coming to me.

On all 3 the light is not too good and shooting presumably just in jpeg has left you with few options to make any corrections - a reason why you should always shoot raw, although to be honest I am not sure even that would have helped with these

Re: Correction- one feathererd friend coming to me.

I think 1 could have been improved if you'd slowed the shutter speed to 1/1000 or perhaps even 1/640 - with birds that are perched one of those shutter speeds would have been better IMHO. That would have dropped your to ISO 400 or perhaps even 320 which would have improved image quality a bit.

As Stan says, these are images where you're going to be working on them quite a bit so you need to get the best signal you can to start with. That means RAW I'm afraid because while the 100D is a fine little camera, it does need all the help it can get with this kind of shot.

BTW, while I use a 7D2 with 400L, my wife uses a 100D with the Canon 70-300 and she gets very good results a lot of the time. Shooting Raw...

Thanks Andy. Good point about the TV. I did shoot at ISO 400 but kept my TV @2000, as I was trying to improve on my BIF shots- but nothing worthwhile came along.
