    Cormorant

Apex Park has a resident cormorant. It was quite happily sunning itself and drying it's wings on a rock today, about five yards from the shore where people were looking on wondering what it was up to. It posed quite nicely and apparently is there most days now. All shot with my 7D2 and a new sigma 150-600:

      Re: Cormorant

All good and sharp and full of detail - the new lens is performing well, the first and last are a tad ttoo bright though and would be better toned down a little

        Cheers Chris.

That it is Stan, I'm very pleased with it. I've dropped the exposure a tad on 1 and 3. Thanks for the feedback.

Great set, presumably I am looking after the brightness tone down as to me they look great, superb detail.

The first shot looks somehow prehistoric!

Alan, this is at the end where there are carp big enough that if I were a mallard, I'd spend most of my time out of the water. Though I do understand your position.

Paul, yes I updated them with a small - 0.30 to 0.5 - drop in exposure. It brings out the bronze on black quite well IMHO.

Those are very nice images. The Contemporary 150-600 looks like a good performer.

Would be interesting to see a comparison with the Sport. Optically looks like both are good and I suspect differences might be handling and AF.

Not easy to photograph and these are some of the best I've seen. The exposure is spot on.

                              Thanks for the feedback guys

I usually only see these birds so far away that they appear as dots on the horizon. This one generally seems to be quite cool with people getting within about 10 yards of it. Mind you with that wingspan and beak it would be a brave man that took liberties with an adult cormorant.
