Well captured Nat, not easy as they are normally very skittish.

I like the positioning of the first but needs cropping a bit tighter. The looking down shots don't work - always better to go eye level and the feeder shots......well you know too well my opinion of those

As I have said before, post only your best shot, which is the first one and leave the rest out

                          Re: Great Spotted Woodpecker

Thanks folks for looking. This is actually the first time I have seen a Woodpecker (any kind)and went out to get it. It was also in my neighbour's garden and there is a large brick wall separating our properties. So there was no way I could get any eye level shots."Rules" had to be cast aside. So I got these from my top floor window. I am now wary of cropping too much in case the IQ deteriorates. I am also not keen on "bird feeder" shots but once again my personal views had to be cast aside. Anyway, now that I know that there are some woodpeckers around me, I will be keeping my eyes open for ground level shots if at all possible- perhaps a step ladder propped up against my neighbour's "great wall of china"!

P.S As long as my neighbour doen't think I am trying to photograph his two pretty daughters!!!!

Quite right Neil. The danger is that the neighbour might decide to shove the ladder away from the wall much to my discomfort!!!!! I musn't let him see my camera lens poking over the wall!!!!!
