    Pelican Dive

    All pelican species have a throat pouch which they use to skim the water and pick up fish close to the surface. Brown pelicans are the only species that dive on fish, either from a sitting position on the water of from in flight and our challenge was to capture the pelican in a dive at the moment its beak breaks the water. Quite difficult as sometimes they just fly in and land and even with 10 FPS the shots were either too early or too late, until one of the last beach sessions when I captured this one
