    Black Bellied Plover

    These guys are also quite a common sight along the waters edge and only in fact have a black belly during the breeding season

            I found them quite skittish when I was there.
            yes they were - had to pan for most shots but the movement adds some interest. Here is another with a sandy background

                they are about half as big again than a dunlin Alan and look very different during the breeding season
