    Bird ID please

I wonder if any of the experts here can identify this little gang please? I suspect that they're juveniles, and the nearest I can get to is a Linnet, but they seem a bit tubby for that. Very much a grab shot as they didn't sit still for long, so sorry about the IQ. Any ideas much appreciated.

Yes Russell juvenile Linnets , you will notice many small birds look more "puffed out " as the weather gets colder as they try and create more body heat and food is not so plentiful.

Agree with Steve. This time of year you'll see groups of birds which will contain lots of juvs.

Thanks Steve & Antoeknee - sometimes I find it tricky to identify SBBs (small brown birds).

I've always heard them referred to as LBJs (little brown jobs)

            LBJs
Another valid acronym. SBB was I think Bill Oddie's term.
