    OMG ....how did I get here

    well it landed next to me so so thought I'd snap the thing - handy having the 70-200 2.8 as it lost the background well

    so its a pigeon ....I think

    and NO I'm not turning to the dark side, it was just in my way whilst pointing the lens

    blimey Ian, never seen anything that colour before = sure you have not been fiddling with the saturation etc

        Nice capture Ian. Not sure if it's the Greater Rainbow Pigeon or the slightly smaller Lesser Rainbow Pigeon. They're very hard to tell apart without something to give a scale of it's size.

            I had to check the EXIF to see if you'd used your new 5DIV with its psychedelic mode turned up to 11 but you didn't so must conclude this is a straight shot. Puzzling

                    I use to work for ICI and on the site we manufactured dyestuffs. Pigeons use to roost in the buildings and we had red, blue etc coloured ones. But nothing multicoloured like this.

                              as for how I did it, I was setting up a really nice long shot looking across Barcelona using a statue as the focus point - then this dam bird sat in front of me ....
