    Arctic Tern

With the weather not being brilliant this last few days I have been able to process quite a few shots from a recent trip to the Farne Islands so get ready for a bit of seabird overload. This is one of the thousands of Arctic Terns nesting on Inner Farne and they don't take kindly to you getting too close ( more to follow )

Lovely shot Steve, yes they can be quite aggressive birds.

        Nice one Steve.

Good to see the catchlight in the eye. Terns often look as if they have no eye, with the black head and eye blending together.

First time I went there I was hatless, despite being follically challenged. Yes they did draw blood but I went again the following day, after buying a naff hat.

I've only ever been bombarded by Little Terns - no blood, just lots of poop

                Great shot btw, Steve.

Great timing from whoever took that shot!

I wonder if there's a market for hats with fake terns attached to them, just like that, to stop the real terns having a go?

I saw some staff with wooden clothes pegs clipped vertically to the top of their hats when I went as a kid, as it put them off their attack run so they didn't attack the hats.
