    Diamond dove feathers

One of the Diamond Doves in my aviary died of natural causes the other day - could not resist photographing its beautiful feathers - results attached.

The wing cover feathers are quite striking with the white spots accentuated with black, almost Guinea Fowl in appearance. The brown primaries with black tips are very attractive and I would suspect quite rare for a Dove.

I have an interest in feathers, because I tie flies for trout fishing.

lovely detail in the feathers, what always fascinates me is the way that the sections stitch them selves back together like a very sophisticated ziplock system to give the feather strength, nature has some wonderful things

I always have lots of feathers around - chicken, pheasants, budge, cockatiel etc - let me know if you'd like some!!
