    Out of the Dark II

I posted this shot in June as one of my unplanned lucky accidents. Well things have moved on since then and it was recently entered by my local camera club into a regional photographic competition. Each of 14 clubs can enter a total of 6 prints, but only one per photographer.

I should mention that I don't enter club competitions, but I do make work available to the club to compete against other clubs. I submitted 3 or 4 to our Selection Committee and this was what they chose, even though I considered my other shots were better.

Judging is now complete and it got a 10, one of very few 10's awarded. I suppose that means Selection Committe 1, Colin nil.

Very nice ... I guess that mouse dangling at the end of your 500mm helps attracts birds of prey ;-)

It's wing tips look like human fingers ...I had to do a double take on them.

Think the Selection Committe would have been drawn in by those eyes

        Colin,
Selection committee got it absolutely right. This is a fabulous shot.
Any chance of seeing the ones they "rejected"????

Colin, I remember this shot very well which you posted some time back. I thought this was a superb pic and still do. There is something eerie about the bird. As David has mentioned, any chance of seeing the other pics? Such postings helps me (& other members I am sure) to do better. Thanks for telling us what happened in the competition.

Brilliant shot Colin, well done. Just enough light on the bird to separate it from the BG.

That would be an experience and well worth a frothy coffee

I will see Muscat's one frothy coffee and raise it by two frothy coffees if I get to play with your 1.4 extender.....
