    Kingfisher

    As the weather looked good made an early morning trip to Blashford yesterday to see if the kingfishers were still active.

    Plenty of flypasts and perching in the distance but only one near enough for a shot and that on a rather unattractive perch the wardens have just put up

    Nice detail in the bird Stan but as you say spoilt by a very artificial looking perch with its sawn off end

      Lovely light on that one Stan... the perch will age with time; but I'm sure a man of your talents could fix it if you had a mind to do so
      Cheers;

        If the perch is OK with the KFs then it's doing its job! Nice shot

          Re: Kingfisher

          Agree with the perch, it could do wth the end snapping off at least to look more natural and get rid of the man made cut, but hey ho, lovely shot.

          I am lucky as they go out of the way with perches here and we have 6 of them all with varying degrees of Lichen on them.

              thanks guys

              The closer perches are much more natural but do lichen like Tony, but yesterday the KF wasnt interested in them

              Not too bothered as I have loads of this sort of pose from the last three years at the location

                  To hell with the perch Stan, it's still a good KF shot. Which hide was it?

                    the usual - goosander hide. As you know they can also occasionally be seen from the Ivy South hide, in fact thats where I got my first KF about 6 years ago but the light always seems to be wrong there

                          I hear what you say about the Perch, but the pic is still a good one, well composed etc. Vast majority of 'non photographer' viewers of the pic wouldn't even notice the chopped off perch

                          Regards Paul

                            quite right and even with a photographer, if you have not got many or any KF shots, then you would not bother too much about the perch provided it looks reasonably natural
