    Flying Gannet

Getting round to processing my photos from our recent holiday in Northumberland. This Gannet flew over while we were out on the boat visiting the Farne Islands.

Excellent composition. What's the Farne Islands like now? The last time I was there a few years ago you couldn't move for school children and people with camera phones knocking you out of the way!

        /Thank you Chris and Brian.

We didn't land on the islands, just a seal cruise around them. The boat wasn't full so there was plenty of room. Out of season for the majority of the sea birds.

Lovely pose, not seen a gannet around the Farnes on previous visits, of course the place for them is Bempton cliffs in the spring/summer

Nicely composed, good feather detail on the chest against the light

Thank you, Stan, Trev and Paul.

There were a few Gannets passing over on their way from or to Bempton (or so the skipper said over the radio), Stan.
