    Re: hawk at Leeds Castle

Well, without any size reference, it looks bigger than a Sparrow Hawk and smaller than a Buzzard. Too stocky for a Kite and totally wrong for a Peregrine, so that leaves me with a Goshawk.

Could be a non UK bird and there are hundreds of them, but assuming UK I would stick with Juvenile Goshawk.

I was pleased with this from the quality of the picture from such a cheap little thing. The M5 gives good pictures from static objects but not from fast moving …. seems not to focus quick enough

I am still working out weather to keep the M5 along with either my 7D or the 1DX2 - it is a hard decision. I would consider just having 2 mirrorless and ending up with a R and M50.

Lens I am happy with - 16-35 F2.8 II, 24-105 II, 70-200II and 100-400II would be the core - and then various non zooms such as 135 f2, 200 f2.8 and the 600F4 are keepers.

Next test is to go back and take similar pictures with the 7D II

Leeds Castle run bird of prey experiences and displays and most of the birds are non UK.

That's a Buzzard, not a Goshawk, nice shots

Now that I have seen the side shot, Buzzard seems a likely candidate, but the black stripe above the eye and the lighter patch above originally swayed me toward Goshawk, plus Brian's title of "Hawk" at Leeds Castle.

                  A Juvenile Goshawk for comparison.

Nice close up and the bird is definitely a Buzzard
