    Hen Pheasant

One of the many that I seem to be feeding!
All too often not given a second glance, but the markings and colour on the females are quite spectacular when you study them. A few years back I carved life size a pair of Pheasants as a retirement gift for a gamekeeper. It took me twice as long to mark and colour the female than the male owing to the detail on the females.

Well caught Trev. The females of many bird species are very attractive, eiders and mallards to name but 2.

Thanks Brian, agree many females of species are overlooked when in fact if you look closely they quite beautifully marked and coloured
