Worth carrying on up to the Farne Islands too if you can spare the time.

I used to go to the Farne Islands regularly, but became disillusioned the last time I went. Too many people, many of whom had no respect for the wildlife nor other photographers. Some of the behaviour was disgraceful.

Sadly it can be like that. Last time I was there didn't seem too busy. May just have been lucky.

I went to the Farne Islands once and vowed I would never go back. The total disrespect for the birds and other people by photographers was disgusting - get the shot at any price. I'm afraid the digital revolution has done nothing for the birds of the Farne Islands, or a lot of other places if it comes to that. Back in the late 1970's early 1980's I used to go to the Shetland Islands,(I was considered a Crank, I used to photograph birds) you never hardly saw another photographer, now apparently the place is swarming with them in the breeding season.

Couldn't agree more about the digital revolution. Before digital I would go to the Farne Islands with perhaps 4 or 6 other people in the boat. After digital the boats were packed. On one trip we had a group of school children running riot on Staple Island. The teacher who was supposed to be supervising was just as bad. One of the wardens gave them a right dressing down, but it didn't do much good. Like Trev. it's unlikely I will return.
