    Snow Drops

I took this one after work today.

I took a short drive a few miles north of York after work today and I spotted these Snow Drops on the side of the road, near the village of Brandsby. I must have looked like a curb crawler, moving along from place to place, looking for a good spot to stop. I saw one old guy giving me long looks, just a 100 yards away from where I pulled over.

I used the new Speedlite (600 EX-RT) and a sync cable borrowed from Paul5604. The cable isn't fully compatible, but it works in M, so I'm having fun and frustration finding out how to use the flashgun.

I've used the Orton Effect to give the shot a slightly richer and dreamier look, that has softened the image too.

Very nice shot Andy. I'm sorry the lead isn't compatible with E-TTL I thought it might be with it having the pins

Thanks Tom and Paul. To be fair, the more I look at this shot, the more I think it's a bit too bright and it has too much at the bottom. You live and learn!

Paul, the lead works fine in manual and to be fair, that's a good way for me to learn.

                Re: Snow Drops

I think the second one is better as you have eliminated the out of focus leaves that were in the dark background so your eyes aren't taken away from the snowdrops

                    Re: Snow Drops

Andy, I didn't see anything wrong with the first, but the second is better.
Although looking again, perhaps there could be a tad more room at the top of the image?
But it is still a lovely shot and nicely processed to focus attention on the snowdrops. Great job.

Thanks Alex and Bill. I must admit, that I found it quite awkward working so close to the ground. Trying to get the composition right, without getting a cricked neck. I'll try and improve my technique. :-)

Like AlexR! I didn't see anything wrong with the first one, bit I also prefer the second - it gave me a little bit of optimism in this miserable season!

Thanks Alan and Jock. I think we all need a bit of optimism from time to time.
